Toronto, Canada - Former chessmaster, pro-democracy activist and Russian opposition leader, Garry Kasparov, will deliver the keynote address at an event, organized by the Embassy of Lithuania to Canada together with the Embassies of Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine and Moldova and marking the 80th anniversary of the signing of the Nazi-Soviet pact on 23 August 1939, known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which divided Eastern Europe between Hitler and Stalin, started German-Soviet invasion of Poland the following month that began World War II.

On 27 March, the Vilnius Regional Court issued a ruling on the 13 January case. 67 individuals were found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity for their involvement in the Soviet aggression on 13 January 1991 in Vilnius.
