During the meeting, the successful cooperation between Lithuania and ICAO was discussed. Ambassador Meilūnas emphasized the importance of aviation safety and highlighted the need to end the actions of Russia and Belarus, which pose a significant threat to civil aviation security. "Russia, which blatantly violates international law, has deprived people of Ukraine of the ability to use civil aviation altogether. Therefore, Russia must be held accountable for these crimes."
These issues were also addressed during meetings with representatives from ICAO's Aviation Security Office and the EU Delegation.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, established in 1947, with its headquarters in Montreal, Canada.
