At the Canadian Parliament and Senate – a series of meetings to discuss key questions

In recent days, Ambassador Egidijus Meilūnas and Deputy Head of Mission Jolanta Vitkauskaitė initiated a series of meetings with representatives of the Canadian Parliament and Senate.

Meetings were held with Chris Bittle, Chair of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, MP Kurt Holman, Finance Committee member Pat Kelly, and Taleeb Noormohamed, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation.

Also, our diplomats met with the Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Peter M. Boehm; Senator Rebecca Patterson; the Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Science and Research, Maxime Blanchette-Joncas; the Member of the Citizenship and Immigration Committee, Sameer Zuberi; and the Chair of this committee and Chair of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association, Julie Dzerowicz.

Discussions focused on Lithuania–Canada economic cooperation, partnership in high-technology sectors, the activities of Lithuanian communities across various Canadian provinces, Canada’s ties with the Nordic and Baltic countries, security challenges, and our solidarity in addressing them, as well as support for Ukraine
