Lithuanian citizens living abroad can apply for the issuance/change of passport or identity card at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Canada in Ottawa.
Parents can order a Passport for a child 1-24 months old. In all the other cases, child’s participation is necessary. For the issuance/change of a passport or identity card, Lithuanian citizens aged 2 and above must come to an Embassy in person, having previously registered for an appointment online. When registering, please specify your personal code or date of birth in the comments section.

In what cases is a Lithuanian passport or identity card issued or changed?
A passport or identity card is issued or changed if:
- Lithuanian citizen changes their name(s), surname, gender, date of birth, place of birth, or personal code;
- Identity document has been damaged and can no longer be used;
- There are errors in the document;
- Identity document has expired;
- Lithuanian citizen requests the change of the document.
What documents need to be provided?
Please bring the following documents to the Embassy:
- Valid identity document (Lithuanian Passport, ID card (for Canadian citizen - Canadian passport)
- A prepaid Canada Post Xpresspost envelope (for shipping within Canada from the Embassy in Ottawa to your noted address) for shipping of passport, ID card or its password certificate. If you do not come to collect the document in person (bring 2 additional envelopes if you also are ordering ID card). Each person must have separate envelope for his/her passport - we do not send passports of family members in one envelope. If you want to collect the document in person, please notify the Embassy by phone +1 613-567-5458.
- Consular fee can be paid by debit or credit card. If paying by certified bank check – recipient is Embassy of Lithuania. Embassy does not accept cash or personal checks. Consular fees can be found here.
Receiving the Passport or Identity Card
By mail
- If you wish to receive your passport or identity card by registered mail, you must submit a prepaid registered envelope (Canada Post Xpresspost) with the specified return address when applying for the passport. The envelope will be sent from the Embassy in Ottawa.
- Along with the your passport or ID card you will receive a confirmation form which has to be signed and sent to the Embassy in Ottawa by email. The received document will not be activated and is not valid until the Embassy receives the confirmation form. After receiving the form, the document will be activated and you will be informed about it by email.
At the Embassy
- You will be notified by phone or email when your passport or identity card is ready for collection.
- Documents can be collected in person at the Embassy in Ottawa. No registration for a consular appointment is required to collect the document, but we kindly ask that you arrange your arrival time in advance by phone at +1 613-567-5458 or by email at consul.ca@mfa.lt.
- A parent or legal guardian can collect passport of a citizen under 18 years old by presenting their own identity document.
