Short-Term stay in Lithuania

Schengen visa (Type C) – a visa valid for transit through or a short-term stay in the territory of the Schengen Member States for a period not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.

Canadian citizens do not require a visa to visit countries in the Schengen area for short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. If you leave and re-enter the Schengen area during the same 180-day period, your previous stay will be counted toward the 90-day limit.

Applications for a Schengen visa must be submitted at one of the VFS Global Visa Application Centres in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, or Edmonton, in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and VFS Global.

• Appointments at VFS Global must be booked no later than 20 calendar days before the intended date of travel.
• Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond the date you plan to leave the Schengen area.

ATTENTION: According to the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on the restrictive measures in connection with military aggression against Ukraine acceptance of visa applications from the citizens of Russia and Belarus by the visa authorities of the Republic of Lithuania abroad is suspended, except in cases when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania mediates the submission.

Long-Term Stay in Lithuania

If you plan to stay in the Republic of Lithuania for more than 90 days within a 180-day period, you must obtain either a National Visa or a Temporary Residence Permit.

Applications for a National Visa or a Temporary Residence Permit must be submitted to the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania through the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Toronto.
