The Delegation of the European Commission to Canada presented  winners of the 2008 EU-Canada Young Journalist Award. They are: Gaétan Pouliot ofthe Université de Montréal, Anna Olejarczyk of the University of British Columbia and Trevor D'Arcy of the University of British Columbia.

Their winning compositions were entitled:

Each year, university students throughout Canada are invited to submit written articles or audio-visual pieces about the European Union.

The Award was established by the Delegation of the European Commission and the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States in Ottawa to recognize outstanding journalistic merit or potential among students at Canadian universities and to reinforce people-to-people links between the European Union and Canada.

The winners are selected by an independent jury, which this year included Emmanuelle Latraverse of Radio-Canada, Mike Blanchfield of CanWest News and Jeff Sallot, Professor of Journalism at Carleton University.
