European Union Book Club - Meeting with writer Antanas Šileika
The Embassy of Lithuania to Canada has the honor of inviting you to a meeting with a writer of Lithuanian descent Antanas Šileika and discussing one of his novels “Underground“.
The European Union Book Club of Ottawa has a long lasting tradition of discussing works by various European authors. February is dedicated to authors from Lithuania or of Lithuanian descent.
A short synopsys: A tragic love triangle set in a forgotten place during an invisible war. Inspired by true events, Underground tells the story of a troubled romance between Lukas and Elena, two members of the underground Lithuanian resistance movement in mid- 1940s.
The virtual meeting will take place February 9 at 6 PM (EST) on Zoom. Please register for the event here: https://forms.gle/DV6ArZ6yQ7WxSdTc9
The Zoom link will be shared a few days prior to the event.
We encourage the Lithuanian community across Canada to join the meeting and hear stories from one of the most renowned Canadian-Lithuanian authors. We also kindly encourage to read the book “Underground” before the meeting. The book can be borrowed at your local public libraries or if you are in Ottawa you can borrow it from the Embassy at 150 Metcalfe street, Ottawa.
