EUROPEAN UNION ENLARGEMENT ISSUES DISCUSSED DURING THE CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND TURKEY
On 20 January at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Turkey, Turkey’s EU membership negotiations were discussed. A possible input of Turkey into the European energy security was discussed and Lithuania’s position on the issue of the EU Eastern partnership initiative was presented.
During the meeting, preparation for the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ali Babacan to Lithuania was also discussed.
Previous consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Turkey on the EU issues were held in Ankara, in autumn 2007.
