Opportunities to Further Expand Lithuanian-Canadian Economic Ties Discussed in Toronto

From April 28 to 30, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Canada, Egidijus Meilūnas, visited Toronto, Ontario, where he met with representatives from the government and business community to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and technology.

During meetings with Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Victor Fedeli, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho, and Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria, the parties discussed enhancing cooperation between Lithuania and Ontario in sectors such as life sciences, financial services, communications, defense technologies, and other high value-added industries, as well as in tourism and transportation. “Lithuania is an innovative and advanced country; therefore, it can offer partners in Canada unique products and services of exceptionally high quality,” the ambassador emphasized during the meetings.

Ambassador Meilūnas also discussed innovation-focused cooperation with the heads of the startup incubator DMZ and the accelerator Innovation Factory. He explored the export potential of Lithuanian food products with representatives from Cushman & Wakefield ULC and FoodBev Consultants. Additionally, opportunities to strengthen collaboration in various industrial sectors were discussed with senior representatives of PACE Law Firm, PACE Global, and the Canadian branch of the Lithuanian company Teltonika.
