PRESIDENT TO TAKE PART IN THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN DAVOS

Tomorrow President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus goes for a working visit to Switzerland to take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos to be held under the title "Shaping the Post-Crisis World" on 28-31 January.

This year, leaders of around 40 states of the world, also representatives of companies, non-governmental organisations, the academia and other organisations will gather for discussions on the world after crisis.  The organisers expect over 2500 representatives from 96 countries of the world to come to this event which is said to be one of the most important ones in the history of the Forum. 

President Adamkus will attend the session "Reviving Global Economic Growth" dedicated to discussions on the importance of open trade to the global economy, on financial stability and other relevant topics.

In the session "Europe's Place in the World", Lithuania's leader plans to talk about the relation between integration within the EU and its efficient involvement in world matters, and the importance of the EU enlargement and closer relations with neighbouring countries, transatlantic community and other regions of the world. Discussions will also concern energy integration, financial stability, development of open trade and other relevant issues.

The President intends to meet with a number of heads of states to discuss bilateral and regional cooperation. Mr. Adamkus is also to meet with some representatives of international companies to talk about the investment climate in Lithuania and investment opportunities in our country.
