PRIME MINISTER OF LITHUANIA: EXPECTATIONS OF CONSTRUCTIVE AND COMMON EFFORT HAVE BEEN MET
In the President’s view, the Government should be more consistent and firm in the decisions it takes and focus its efforts on strategic decisions that are instrumental in carrying out structural reforms. Acting Prime Minister A. Kubilius was confident that his Cabinet would work and interact with the President in a constructive way and noted that there were no textbooks telling how to address or seek the best solutions to the emerging challenges in the wake of the unprecedented crisis. „We are negotiating with social partners on all painful but inevitable decisions and seek new modes of action that call not only for the Governments firmness of purpose but also for its adequate flexibility”, A. Kubilius said.
The Acting Prime Minister was pleased that the efforts to gain wider public consensus had yielded positive results and was confident that a growing consensus of opinion would be instrumental in seeking solutions to necessary structural reforms.
Following the conversation President Dalia Grybauskaitė made a decision to submit the candidacy of Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius to the Seimas for consideration.
