RESIDENTS OF VILNIUS ARE INVITED TO THE ACTION OF SOLIDARITY WITH JAPAN
On 26 April in Vilnius Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the creative team “AM | PM” organizes an action of solidarity “Origami for the Future”. During the event impressive 3D video projections will be shown on the wall of National Art Gallery.
Images will reflect ikebana, origami, haiku, sakura, koto and other elements of rich Japanese culture. The action of solidarity is organized to support the Japanese people who suffered from natural disasters and accidents at nuclear power plant Fukushima.
Event organizers invited to commemorate the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on 11 March, to express moral support for the Japanese people. This year Lithuania and Japan mark the 20th anniversary of restoration of diplomatic relations. Close cultural ties unite the countries from long ago.
Place of the event was not chosen accidentally. Sakuras were planted near the National Art Gallery in 2001 to mark the 100th anniversary of Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, who resided in Kaunas and during the Second World War saved lives of nearly 10,000 Jews from Lithuania, Poland and Germany.
The event starts at 22:00, location – area near the National Gallery of Art (Constitution Ave. 22, Vilnius). We invite all residents and guests of Vilnius to participate and to show solidarity with the Japanese people.
