Strengthening ties between Lithuania and Canada
March 9, 2021 marked the first bilateral meeting with Canada-Nordic-Baltic Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Parliament of Canada and Lithuania-Canada Friendship Group of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
The agenda of the meeting included discussion on the situation in Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, bilateral Lithuania-Canada cooperation. The members of the Parliaments acknowledged the input of the Lithuanian community in Canada in strengthening the ties between the countries. The members of the Parliament of Canada congratulated Lithuanian counterparts on the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania and the upcoming 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties, which will be celebrated later this year.
The meeting was organized by the chairpersons of the Friendship Groups – Morgana Danielė and Jamie Schmale. Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Parliament of Canada from Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa represented Canada. More than 10 members of the Seimas actively participated as well.
