Visit to Toronto: meeting diaspora representatives, exploring business opportunities and delivering consular services

On February 5-9, the Embassy of Lithuania to Canada team conducted a visit to Toronto. The visit composed of three major parts – meetings with Lithuanian community representatives, exploration of business opportunities and providing Lithuanian citizens with consular services.

Lithuanian ambassador Mr. D. Skusevičius met with the representatives of the Lithuanian Canadian Community and the City of Toronto Lithuanian community, the representatives of Lithuanian Professionals Group and with the staff of “Maironis” Toronto Lithuanian School. While visiting Toronto, the ambassador of Lithuania paid a visit to Lithuanian parishes of Lithuanian Martyrs in Mississauga and Resurrection of Our Lord in Toronto. The ambassador of Lithuania also met with representatives of largest Lithuanian financial institution in Canada “Parama Credit Union”. During the course of the said meetings, the Lithuanian Embassy representatives introduced priorities of the Embassy’s activities and possible areas of cooperation for this year.

The part of the agenda of the visit to Toronto was conducted jointly with representatives of “Invest in Lithuania” who were on their business mission to Toronto and were exploring the possibilities to attract to Lithuanian market Canadian high value Tech sector representatives for possible investment and further development of their infrastructure projects.

The ambassador of Lithuania and members of “Invest in Lithuania” met with the officials of the fastest-growing tech conference in North America “Collision”, the representatives of start-up accelerator “TechStars”, the representatives of Toronto based business development company Pace Global Advantages. During the discussions with the representatives of the above-mentioned businesses, the sides exchanged their views on organization of Lithuanian producers’ business missions to Canadian market, presentation of various Lithuanian business sectors, possible investment in Lithuanian Tech sector and further development of Canadian business presence on Lithuanian soil.

While visiting Toronto on February 5-9, the Embassy representatives also conducted the consular services mission for Toronto area based Lithuanian community members. The next consular services mission is scheduled to Edmonton on June 16-17 and to Calgary on June 18-19, 2020.
