Ambassador E. Meilūnas and Speaker of the Canadian Senate R. Gagné discussed the strengthening of Lithuania–Canada bilateral relation

On April 10, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Canada, Egidijus Meilūnas, met with the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Raymonde Gagné.
During the meeting, Ambassador and the Speaker discussed strengthening bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation between Lithuania and Canada, as well as emphasized the importance of continued Canada–Lithuania cooperation in supporting Ukraine. Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the Canadian Senate for Canada’s strong stance on Euro-Atlantic security issues, consistent support for Ukraine, and Canada’s significant contribution to the security of the Baltic Sea region.
“We value the strong partnership with Canada, which is a close NATO ally. Cooperation between Lithuania and Canada is extremely important for strengthening the security and defense capabilities of the Euro-Atlantic region and countering the threat posed by Russia, which is and will remain a long-term direct threat to the security of all NATO members. At the same time, we welcome the new opportunities emerging to strengthen Lithuania–Canada bilateral economic and trade relations,” said Ambassador E. Meilūnas during the meeting.
The Speaker of the Canadian Senate noted that Canada views Lithuania and the other Baltic states as important partners in Europe.
