Ambassador’s visit to the Province of Alberta and Vancouver

On December 9-12 the Ambassador of Lithuania to Canada visited Province of Alberta and Vancouver.

Ambassador met with Her Honour the Honourable S. Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Honourable Nathan Cooper, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, the Honourable Jason Kenney, Premier of Alberta, where he emphasized the 30th anniversary of reestablished diplomatic relations, Lithuanian community in Alberta and the need to find new links to strengthen economic cooperation, especially in technological fields.

“Lithuania and the province of Alberta are primarily connected by a large Lithuanian community active in both Edmonton and Calgary. We have excellent relations between our countries. This is an excellent starting point for further strengthening of cooperation - in the fields of economy, science, culture and others, ” said D. Skusevičius in meetings with Alberta officials.

During the visit, the Ambassador met with members of Lithuanian Community in Edmonton, participated in the Christmas events of the Lithuanian communities in Calgary and Vancouver. During the event in Calgary, the outgoing Honorary Consul of Lithuania in the province of Alberta Tony Kasper was presented with the letter of gratitude from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

"I am glad that we finally managed to meet you all in person. I am sincerely grateful to each of you for maintaining your Lithuanian roots in Western Canada. I hope that together we will overcome the pandemic soon and such meetings and events will be able to take place more often, ” said Ambassador D. Skusevičius at the festive events.
