Congratulations on the Coronation of King Mindaugas Day!
July 6th – the Coronation of King Mindaugas day. Singing the national anthem has become a traditional celebration of this occasion.
Due to the global pandemic, we have prepared a celebratory video in advance. Lithuanians from coast to coast, from Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Wasaga Beach, Vancouver, and Niagara Falls, have come together to sing the National Anthem and express our love to Lithuania.
In order to produce this video, we used footage not only from this year, but also videos from previous years as well as historical footage from celebrations in Canada. Lithuanians in Canada have celebrated National days even throughout the occupation years and fought for Lithuania’s independence. The illuminated Niagara Falls were captured by a drone for this occasion by ambassador Darius Skusevičius.
We thank Agnė Zalanskaite and her team for producing this video which used footage submitted by Lithuanian communities accross Canada and footage from the February 16th celebratory concert by Dalius Abaris.
