LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA

 

Gintė Damušytė and Michaelle JeanOn 13 February, Lithuanian Ambassador to Canada Gintė Damušytė presented credentials to Governor General of Canada Michaelle Jean.

Ambassador G.Damušytė expressed trust that the bilateral relations between Lithuania and Canada would intensify and both countries, would continue to closely cooperate as active NATO allies reconstructing Afghanistan and ensuring the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine and Georgia.

The Ambassador also expressed trust that for Lithuania, as a political partner, a visa-free regime would be applied in the nearest future and the citizens of the country would be able to travel without any restrictions to Canada.

Governor General M.Jean indicated that Lithuania and Canada are cooperating successfully in Afghanistan and thanked for the Conference on Afghanistan Provincial Reconstruction Teams, which was co-organized by Lithuania and Canada in Vilnius. The Governor General also wished for Lithuania and Canada to continue developing political, economic and human relations.

Ambassador G.Damušytė is the fourth Lithuanian Ambassador to Canada.

Lithuania and Canada established diplomatic relations on 2 September, 1991.
